so. i saw harry potter and the half-blood prince at midnight on tuesday (wednesday, i guess.) and again this morning. it's nice to see movies more than once because you notice more things. like for instance, when i was watching the first harry potter a while ago i noticed that when the trio's walking down to hagrid's hut and he's playing that little recorder thing, he's playing 'hedwig's theme' (the harry potter theme. for those that didn't know.). anyways. back to the main point of this journal. i was just going to point out some of my favorite parts of the movie and give a mini-review.
favorite parts:
hermione: (talking about romilda vane) she only likes you because she thinks you're the chosen one.
harry: but i am the chosen one (stupid grin)
hermione: *slaps him with newspaper*
harry: sorry...i'm kidding. just kidding.
when harry, hagrid and slughorn are burying aragog and harry goes "and the pinchers." and makes the pinchers with his fingers and clicks his tongue. funniest part of the movie. maybe in potter history. i burst out laughing every time i see that and think about it.
hermione and harry walk up to ron and lavender kissing and being all affectionate and lovey-dovey in the corridor and hermione goes, 'excuse me while i go vomit.'
when ron and harry are walking through the corridor's after harry and ginny hid the half-blood prince's book, ron asks harry if he and ginny did it. harry's like 'what?!?' and then ron mention's the book and he's like 'ohhhh! yeah. right.' haha.
ron: how much are these?
fred & george: 5 galleons.
ron: how much for me?
fred & george: 5 galleons.
ron: i'm your brother!
fred & george: 10 galleons.
when harry and ron are in slughorn's office because ron ate the chocolates, and ron hugs slughorn. i forget what he says, but it was funny. i do remember that. i love that whole scene with ron under the potion in general.
at the burrow when harry and ginny are alone together on the couch after mr. weasley leaves, and harry takes a pie thing from ginny and eats it. then ron comes in with a platter of mini-pies (or he called them pie's.) and just plopped himself in between harry and ginny. hilarious.
it was cute when harry and ron were fighting over the good potion book.
mcgonagall: why is it that whenever there's trouble it's always you three?
ron: trust me professor, i've asked myself that for the past six years.
mcgonagall telling harry that he can now take potions--since slughorn doesn't require his newt students to get an o on their owl like snape did--and tells him '

otter, take weasley with you. he looks far to happy over there.' gotta love mcgonagall.
after they bury aragog and are hagrid's hut, slughorn tells harry about francis, his old fish. he'd walked into his office one day and on his desk was a bowl with water and a leaf in it. later, the leaf started to float to the bottom of the bowl. right before it hit the bottom, it turned into a fish. the fish was from lily (harry's mom). one day many years later, slughorn walked into the room that held the fish and the fish was dead. that was the day that lily was killed. personally, i thought that scene was brilliant.
harry: i thought you couldn't apparate out of hogwarts.
dumbledore: being me has it's privileges.
the part where harry and slughorn are in the greenhouse and slughorn goes, 'harry!' and then, in the same tone slughorn used, harry goes, 'sir!'. that part was hilarious.
harry under felix is hilarious. that whole part was.
random thoughts:
tom felton did a fantastic job in this movie. with the way draco acts in the book and all his different emotions (anger, sadness, ect.), it would be hard to pull off well. but, tom did it. i especially thought he did great in the scene in the bathroom when harry curses him, and when he's supposed to kill dumbledore but doesn't.
alan rickman also did great. he's the perfect guy to play snape. i loved the way he came up to harry under dumbledore's office and shushed him before going up to kill dumbledore.
the scene where hermione's sitting on the steps crying with the birds surrounding her is also brilliant. just the trio's acting. you never really see hermionie get that angry at ron or harry. and with the birds--'throwing' them at ron and all--really well acted. also the dialogue where hermione asks harry what it feels like to see ginny and dean. once hermione lays her head on harry's shoulder and starts crying, harry goes, 'it feels like this'. heartbreaking.
the part where harry's getting water out of the lake for dumbledore in the cave, and the inferi grabs his hand made me jump so high. haha. it reminds me of the part in chamber of secrets where harry accidentally floo-poweders to borgin & bourkes and the hand of glory grabs his hand.
rupert acted the part where ron's reacting to the potion on the floor of slughorn's office very well.
OH. almost forgot to mention. at the end of the movie, when everyone's gathered in the courtyard around the dead dumbledore, when they all raise their wands, i found that very cool. and touching. sweet. cute. well. not really cute. but you get my gist.
one last thing. what was with the burrow getting burned down? cause bill and fleur's wedding's supposed to be there in the beginning of the seventh book and all...
EDIT (7/18/09 3:22 PST): i forgot to add. the scene with harry force feeding dumbledore the liquid in the cave. michael acted that scene so well. dumbledore looked very creepy, which was how he supposed to look. he just did a great job with that scene. END EDIT.
over all, i loved the movie. dan, rupert and emma have all grown so much. i'm unbelievably proud of them.
all the others--tom (draco), matthew (neville), bonnie (ginny), oliver (george), and james (fred) have grown so much too.
i would mention the adults, but they can't exactly 'grow' anymore then they already have. but. they still did a great job. so hat's off to michael (dumbledore), alan (snape), maggie (mcgonagall), robbie (hagrid), julie (mrs. weasley), mark (mr. weasley), and david (lupin). you all did a great job.
and yes, i do realize there are other adults that i did not mention. but, they didn't have big parts in this movie or any of the others, so i don't wanna type all their names out. so. for the unmentioned people--good job. or. i just don't wanna mention your name cause you're a bad guy/girl. and. no. snape doesn't count. he's a good guy.
